Foundation Activities
In July the Club received a District Grant in the amount of $2,000 that was used for three purposes.  The Club purchased two iPads that were donated to the Sheperd Center to be used by their patients in the SHARE Military Initiative.  The Child Development Association received books for their library and the Boy Scouts received a grant to fund the cost of a scout to attend the Engineering Exploring Academy.
In July the Rotary Club of North Fulton recognized three new Major Donors to the Rotary Foundation.  The members recognized by District Governor Blake McBurney and Zone 34 Assistant Regional Foundation Coordinator Garland Moore were Past President Doug Higgins and wife Michelle, Foundation Director Mike Mudd and wife Rachel and charter member Michael Mitchell and wife Sharon. In August seven members of the Club attended the District 6900 Foundation Seminar in Columbus.  The Rotary Club of North Fulton received an honor from Past District Governor Cheryl Greenway recognizing the Club as having the largest Foundation donation in the history of District 6900 during the Rotary year 2012-2013 in the amount of $500,454 or 16,682 per capita. In September the Club submitted an application for the largest Global Grant in the history of District 6900.  The $200,000 Global Grant will be used to fund a portion of the cost of a dam on Project Canaan in Swaziland, Africa.  The water from the dam will be used to irrigate crops grown at Project Canaan.
In September the Club hosted the fifth annual Dinner at the Diner.  This fund raising event supports our Club’s commitment to End Polio Now.  This year we received a contribution from the Diner at North Point for $800. (See flyer)
In October Kathleen Stillwell Myers was recognized posthumously in Evanston, Illinois as the Rotary Foundations newest Arch C. Klumph Society member.  Kathy died on July 2, 2013 after an extended illness.  In Rotary year 2012-2013 Kathy contributed $__________ to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund.
In November the Club held its annual Foundation Celebration as the home of Foundation Director Mike Mudd.  Fourteen Club members attended along with spouses and special guests Past District Governor Cheryl Greenway, District Global Grants Director Sally Platt and District Newsletter editor Jackie Cuthbert.
In November the Club hosted District Foundation Chairman Ray McKemie from the Rotary Club of Pelham who presented a program on The Rotary Foundation.
In December the Rotary Club of North Fulton donated $10,000 to Heart for Africa from the RCNF Crawford Fund.  The funds are being matched dollar for dollar and the $20,000 will be used in 2014 to provide the operating funds for Project Canaan’s new medical facility in Swaziland, Africa.
In the first half of Rotary year 2013-2014 the Rotary Club of North Fulton recognized 12 new Paul Harris Fellows – Mary K. Calonkey, Robert S. Calonkey, William R. Calonkey, Lea Clingman, Suzanne Heiser, Joanie Lukins, Angela S. Lynn, Audrey E. Lynn, Darcey E. Lynn, Jessica M. Lynn, Carol McGregor and Emma Tallis.  Through December 31, 2013 the Rotary Club of North Fulton has recognized a total of 128 Paul Harris Fellows. In the first half of Rotary year 2013-2014 the Rotary Club of North Fulton has contributed $3,965 to the Annual Fund (67% of goal and $147per capita) and $1,000 to Polio Plus.  The cumulative all-time giving from the Rotary Club of North Fulton to The Rotary Foundation is $686,618.
